After three full listens through their latest four-track EP, Reinvention, just looking for some sort of a comparison to rear its head, it dawned on me; Matt Mason Fiasco simply sounds like Matt Mason Fiasco. The five-piece beautified grunge outfit consisting of Matt Blauvelt (vocals, guitars, drums), Sean Bonesy Robinson (guitars, percussion), Paul Tupper (violin), Fred Lee (bass), and Chance Gillis (keys) manage to create a genre all their own. On tracks like "Misguided Light" and the title track, the group manages to combine soft, sultry guitar and strings with Blauvelt's customary gravely vocals to breed an exceptionally original sound. Recorded at Omni Arts Studio in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Reinvention is packed with a powerful punch of pre-nostalgia, so make sure not to miss out!
